Remagoa coffee is a new addition to our range of speciality coffees. Produced by Marito and his close family members, this unique coffee is processed with meticulous attention on their own land, located at an altitude of 1,850 metres above sea level. Remagoa is in a remote location, with no road access, making it an exceptionally special place for coffee growing.

Located in Southeast Asia, with Australia to the south, East Timor holds the unenviable honour of being one of the few countries in the world to have been both colonised and annexed: colonised by Portugal from 1600 to 1975 and annexed by Indonesia from 1975 to 1999. Having gained independence in 2002, East Timor is the world's second youngest nation state, and is still searching for its place in the geopolitical world of the 21st century. Coffee was introduced to the island by the Portuguese and became the main export product in the 1900s; however, the industry suffered greatly during the years of Indonesian annexation, when the sector was virtually ignored.

Today, East Timorese coffee farmers are striving to carve out a niche for themselves in the global specialty coffee market.

Timorese coffee is truly wild and organically grown under the towering shade trees that dominate the landscape. Thanks to the ancient traditions of coffee processing, passed down from generation to generation, coffee is helping to create more opportunities for Timorese to earn a steady and sustainable income to support and provide for their families and the local community.
